What I wish “high school me” would have known

To all the young girls, I don’t care if you are 13 or 17 I ask you to PAUSE. Take a pause on life and quit searching for a boyfriend, the next relationship, and the next great thing. Instead take the time to enjoy your life. Life on your own, life with your friends and making memories with your friends. You should be allowed to run around with your friends without worrying about being tied down. You are allowed to make mistakes and screw up, everyone does. Just don’t let it define you and do not let it ruin your reputation. High school should be some of the best years of your life, but instead you are too worried about impressing the “popular kids” and fitting in with people who eventually won’t be anyone but just another adult like you. You will make friends in high school that help shape you, and help teach you lessons, and help you find yourself… In 5 years anything that ever hurt you, broke you, or the drama you have had taken place will not even matter, some people grow up after high school and some don’t. The relationships you spend countless hours trying to be in may work out but majority of them don't. Instead of focusing all the countless amount of time focused on a relationship spend that time doing what makes you happy, take risks, try out for teams, join clubs, make tons of friends and be the best version of yourself you can be. Smile and say hello to everyone and anyone, because everyone is just trying to feel accepted like you. Life in high school is the easiest years of your life, even though sometimes there is rough bumps and you will have drama and betrayals, life in high school will be the easiest and best years of your life I promise you don’t take them for granted or wish them away. So… take a breath, pause, be the best version of yourself, learn to love yourself, and do what makes you happy, instead of trying to impressing others. The “popular kids” will only be popular for so long… so PAUSE. BREATHE. You will be okay, trust me, it’s only high school.
